Auditory Comprehension

The following program is a systematic approach  to teaching WH discriomination. It is also a good way to facilitate generalization of previously acquired decriptive language and recall.

Auditory Comprehension

The following represents a systematic increase in complexity per sentence in order to teach Learner to remember specific information and answer WH questions about that information.

a.  "Mommy went to the store."

- Sample follow-up questions: "who went to the store?", "Where did money go?"

b.  "Mommy drove her car to the store."

- Sample follow-up questions: "who went to the store?",  "where did money go?",  "how did mommy get to the store?" etc.

c.  "Mommy drove her red car to the store."

d.  "Mommy drove her red card to the store and bought cookies."

e.  "Mommy drove her big red car to the store and bought cookies."

f.  "Mommy drove her big red car to the store and bought little cookies."

g.  "Mommy drove her big red car to the store and bought little chocolate chip cookies."

h.  "Mommy drove her big red car to the store and bought little chocolate chip cookies for dessert."

● Be sure that as the complexity of the sentences increases the total number of questions that learner has to respond to increases as well.

● Use the above noted sample sentences as a framework for targeting a certain number of terms within a sentence instead of presenting the sentences and then teaching rote responses.  In other words, be sure to change the sentence, every time that the target is practiced, while maintaining the target number of terms.

Good luck!
